The Creative Moment Is Coming: Here's What It's About
I’m often asked what I’m working on these days, and for the last while my answer has been the same: a book. Co-written with my longtime friend and teacher Russ Hudson, The Creative Moment arrives on May 18, 2027, and I wanted to share a bit about why we wrote it, and what’s inside.
Why now?
AI can draft the essay and render the image in seconds. What it cannot do is long, risk, wonder, suffer, awaken, or be changed by the act of making. As machines transform what gets produced, this book returns creativity to its source: our humanity, our lived experience, and the particular way each of us meets the world.
A new doorway into the Enneagram
Most people know the Enneagram as a map of personality and presence. In this book, Russ and I reveal it as something more: a dynamic system of nine creative energies alive in every person. Each Point offers its own way of perceiving, shaping, collaborating, and bringing something new into being, not abstract Points, but living forces you can learn to access deliberately.
Readers will come away with:
- The creative characteristics of each of the nine Enneagram Points, and how to recognize which energies are most and least available to them right now
- Practical tools for bringing each energy into balance and building healthier, more generative collaborations
- A clear roadmap for moving a creative project from vision to reality
- A sense of what becomes possible when all nine energies are awakened and integrated together
Woven throughout are voices from creative contributors around the world (artists, poets, sculptors, musicians, fashion designers, arts leaders, business innovators, and authors) speaking from inside their own creative process.
Pre-order today
The book is available for pre-order now, with equal support for Canadian and U.S./international readers: see the full list of retailers on the book page. And if you’d like a running countdown to release day, there’s a live one waiting for you there too.
I’ll be sharing more here as we get closer to launch: reflections from the writing process, a look at the nine Points in practice, and updates on events. Thank you for being part of this journey.
